In today’s fast-paced world, your time is valuable. That’s why we offer same-day crowns by CEREC
Between work, family, social obligations and "me time," life can get hectic. Our CEREC technology eliminates one inconvenience: spending multiple visits in the dentist’s chair for one crown on a single tooth. With CEREC, you need only one appointment, and that one will be easier and more comfortable than the traditional procedure for crowns.

What is CEREC?
Its full name is a mouthful: Chairside Economical Restorations of Esthetic Ceramics. What it means is that we use computer technology to create your crown right in our Fair Oaks office, from start to finish in one visit. No temporary crown, no return appointment.
How does CEREC work?
We prep your tooth as we would any crown, but instead of using sticky glop to make a mold of your teeth, we take digital impressions with the CEREC computer. You’ll follow this painless process on a screen from your dental chair. Then we wirelessly transmit those impressions to a milling machine, similar to a 3D printer, on site. This machine grinds out your crown from a prefabricated block of porcelain. After a short wait, during which you can watch Netflix, read or work on your smartphone or tablet using our free Wi-Fi, your crown is ready, matched perfectly for fit and color.
Do CEREC crowns cost more?
No, they cost the same as the traditional crowns fabricated in an outside laboratory.
Does CEREC offer other advantages?
It definitely does. CEREC crowns are as strong as or may be stronger than traditional crowns. Their fit is more precise and they last longer. They also resist plaque and are less likely to cause allergic reactions. Orcutt Family Dentistry guarantees CEREC crowns for five years.
Is CEREC technology new?
Even though Dr. Orcutt is one of only a few dentists in the Fair Oaks area using CEREC, the technology is proven to be sound. The CEREC process was developed in Zurich in 1980 and has been used on patients since 1985. In 2013, nearly 7 million CEREC procedures were successfully performed worldwide. You can completely trust that CEREC will give you a perfect crown!
Too bad David Letterman didn't know about the CEREC when he broke his tooth!
