Before and After Images of Patients
Real Patients, Real Results At Orcutt Family Dentistry
- This patient came to my office looking to fix his bite and to have cosmetic dentistry done on his front teeth because of the way his teeth formed when he was a kid.
- He came to us with an extra space between his front teeth and between the upper and lower front teeth (called an open bite).
- Placing crowns on someone with an open bite would result in teeth that look extra long in the front, so we decided to move his teeth into a better position first with Invisalign.
- After Invisalign, I did 6 crowns on the upper front teeth. The crowns not only closed the gaps he had between his teeth but cosmetically gave him a really great smile.
- This patient asked me to give her a beautiful smile.
- She stated that everyone she knew asked her why she didn’t smile. She told me she didn’t smile because she didn’t like the looks of her teeth.
- We first aligned her teeth with Invisalign, and then we put crowns on her upper front teeth.
- Now, we can’t get her to stop smiling.

Understanding dental bridges and crowns
A dental crown, also known as a cap, is a tooth-shaped prosthetic placed over an existing tooth to bolster its shape, size, health, and appearance. Restoring the tooth to its pre-damage self, a dental crown ensures that your tooth functions and looks just like a natural tooth, if not better.
A dental bridge replaces one or more missing teeth. A dental bridge is preferred by patients who still have some remaining teeth, as the bridge secures itself on the adjacent teeth (called abutment teeth).
The abutment teeth require preparation to provide optimal support for your dental bridge. This preparation includes removing a bit of the enamel to accommodate dental crowns. Finally, a dental bridge fills the gap between two healthy teeth, supported by neighboring teeth secured with crowns.

One-visit dentistry: We offer CEREC dental bridges and crowns
Traditionally, restoring your smile with bridges and crowns requires two or more visits. With CEREC technology, we can design, create, and place your restoration in one appointment! What does this mean for you? Faster and more comfortable dentistry.
CEREC restorations are possible in a single appointment because of the CAD/CAM technology, which stands for computer-assisted design/manufacturing. Our CAD unit designs your crown in minutes based on your digital impressions. The CAM technology allows us to fabricate your restoration using our in-house milling machine. Instead of fabricating your crown or bridge in an offsite lab, your restorations are created right here in the office, saving you multiple dental trips.
Once we have your restoration, we make a few adjustments to ensure an optimal fit and alignment. The final step is to use dental cement to secure the restoration to your teeth.

Hi, I’m Dr. Brian Orcutt, and I’d like to take this opportunity to talk to you about the CEREC same-day crown system that I have here in my office. It’s actually one of my favorite things that I can do for my patients. Long time ago, we would have to do crowns in two visits. Your first visit, you’d have to get numb. We’d have to take an impression of the tooth with the ooey gooey impression material. Then we’d have to make a temporary crown for you and you’d have to be in that temporary crown for about two to three weeks. Then you’d have to come back. We’d have to get you numb again so that we could submit the permanent crown on your tooth. Now with the CEREC same-day crown system, we can do all of that in pretty much two to two and a half hours. Now you can come in here, we would do the dental work on you, and we would take a scan with a digital camera. We don’t have to take the ooey gooey impressions anymore. Once we take the scan with the camera, we use our CAD/CAM system to design the crown and to mill the crown in the milling unit that you see behind me. And then we place it in an oven and bake it for about 15 minutes, and then we cement the crown in your mouth and you don’t have to be numb a second time. I mean, that’s great, isn’t it? Alright, so if you have any questions about this, feel free to give us a call and I hope you have a great day.
